Qualified Offshore Crane Operator

Course Overview
This 3-day course will hone the skills necessary for the students to meet the minimum requirements as outlined by API RP 2D for Qualified Offshore Pedestal Crane Operator. Student Maximum is 8.

Designed For
This course is for those personnel that want to meet minimal qualifications under the requirements of API RP 2D for pedestal crane operators.

Prerequisites
Employer will verify that students comply with physical requirements in accordance with API RP 2D. Hands-on training will be included. It is expected that the student will supply the necessary personal protection equipment such as gloves, hard hat, safety glasses and steel toe boots.

Objectives
Upon the completion of this course the students should be able to:

  • Explain risk management
  • Identify crane components and explain their functions
  • Demonstrate proper pre-use inspections
  • Coordinate and develop lift plans
  • Read and interpret load charts
  • Explain capacity changes on components when boom angle changes
  • Explain differences between onboard and offboard lifts
  • Demonstrate and understand rigging gear inspection and maintenance
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using hand signals
